And why does she like to dance on the roadside? Read more to find out! The film was an adaptation of a novel bearing the same name written by Shiiba Hiroshi. It was made in Bengali and had its première there on 27 December 1941. Although the film had an invitation from the Ministry of Information of Japan, it was ultimately banned. The film was released with another 15-minute Bengali version titled "Kishore das" (কিশোর দাস) on 30 December 1941 at Jorasanko Cinema, which was three times more than the first release. A theater owner had claimed that the first version had more than 200 vagrants walking on stage. The film was later re-edited by Yunus Nadiadwala. It lost its original title and became "Roadside Romeo". This is known as one of his earliest Hindi films along with Naqli Aulad. The music direction was by R. C. Boral and the lyricist was Sabira. The songs were sung by Yousuf Khan, M. M. Nayyar, Sudha Malhotra and Shanta Dutta Bagchi. Playback singers were Kajjanbala Bose, Purnima Devi and Amar Nath.In the words of an eminent filmmaker from that period that "Humayun is a great story-teller." The story revolves around the lives of two different people. The protagonist, Humayun (Ram Prakash) is an idealistic young man, who falls in love at first sight with a girl named Sharda (Ushashi Ghosh), who has fallen in love with him. Humayun tells her that he is married to another woman and his wife is expecting their son. This creates conflict between them which ends up with their marriage after many ups and downs. Usha (Ushashi Ghosh), finds her love rejected by her husband because of his marriage to another woman. She is later murdered by a man named Durgaswami (Krishna). Humayun and his wife Ranu (Jayabala), give birth to a son and spend the rest of their lives in blissful married life. The film ends with the birth of a girl to Humayun's wife. The film's climax scene has been described as "the high point of the film" because the entire Mahalaxmi Temple, including the shikhara, shikara, clock tower and bell tower stands in for Mahalaxmi Temple. cfa1e77820
